Permaculture Expert

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a Permaculture Expert to design and deliver a two‑day training workshop that showcases water‑efficient urban agriculture through permaculture. The role supports the sustainability of knowledge gained in the Adaptation Fund project and will be carried out remotely, with on‑site delivery in Jordan.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a two‑day permaculture training workshop structure, curriculum and materials for up to 20 participants.
• Deliver the workshop on‑site at the Greening the Desert project in South Shuneh, Jordan, using interactive and hands‑on training tools.
• Prepare and submit the final workshop agenda, training content, attendee list and photographic documentation of the event.
• Coordinate with the Project Coordinator and the Climate Change and Natural Resource Sustainability Cluster Lead to ensure alignment with project objectives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in environmental, agricultural or related fields; a first‑level degree with relevant experience may be considered.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in sustainable agriculture and permaculture within the Arab region.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training programmes on permaculture.
• Ability to work independently and remotely while travelling to Jordan for the workshop.
