Food Systems Transformation Consultant

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a consultant to support the development of Libya's national food systems transformation pathway. The role is remote and will last approximately two months, focusing on data collection, stakeholder engagement, and drafting a strategic pathway aligned with regional initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare a background note on Libya’s food systems, including a draft list of relevant indicators and climate change parameters.
• Collect and analyse data for the agreed indicators and incorporate findings into the background note.
• Design and disseminate an online survey to identify key food‑system challenges and transformation priorities.
• Analyse survey results and create a PowerPoint presentation summarising the background note and survey findings for the national dialogue.
• Identify national stakeholder institutions and assist in organising the national food‑systems dialogue, including agenda preparation.
• Draft the final food‑systems transformation pathway document in coordination with the Libyan National Food Systems Focal Point and ESCWA.

Required profile

• Experience in food‑systems analysis, policy development, or related research.
• Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders across government and civil society.
• Familiarity with regional food‑systems initiatives and Sustainable Development Goals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
