Volunteer Lawyer

About the role

We are seeking a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive to join our in‑house legal team on a volunteer basis. The role supports a range of commercial and contractual matters for a UK‑based charitable organisation, with a minimum commitment of 5 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, funding agreements, partnership agreements, memorandums of understanding and other corporate documents.
• Identify commercial solutions to legal problems.
• Provide comments and draft commercial agreements with minimal supervision.
• Liaise with external legal professionals and other stakeholders as required.
• Support the team in managing legal risks and compliance, maintain records and ensure appropriate documentation.
• Attend meetings, take notes and draft follow‑up actions.
• Respond to internal legal queries in a professional and timely manner.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor, barrister, legal executive or equivalent UK experience.
• 5–9 years of experience in transactional commercial and contract law.
• Strong knowledge of UK legal systems and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent analytical and research abilities.
• High‑level communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
