UNESCO Junior Research Consultant: Global Education Report (Remote)

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) in Ethiopia is looking for an IT Operations Assistant to support its Technology (TEC) unit. This position will be based in Addis Ababa with frequent travel to field offices such as Jijiga, Mekelle and Semera, ensuring that critical IT infrastructure remains operational in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor servers, radios and network equipment across the country.
• Provide first‑line support, including password resets and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues.
• Coordinate with field teams to resolve connectivity problems and ensure reliable satellite communications.
• Travel to remote field offices to perform on‑site installations, repairs and upgrades.
• Document incidents and contribute to continuous improvement of IT processes.

Required profile

• Tech‑savvy problem solver comfortable working in austere conditions.
• Willingness to get hands dirty and handle a variety of IT tasks.
• Ability to travel frequently within Ethiopia.
• Strong communication skills to interact with diverse field staff.
