Software Engineer - Enterprise Applications

About the role

The Software Engineer in the Application function of the Information Technology department designs, develops, tests, deploys and maintains enterprise applications, integrations and software solutions. The role works independently within established architecture and engineering standards to deliver secure, reliable and maintainable solutions, and reports to the Head of Application Delivery & Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain applications and software using approved technologies, including APIs, integrations, database components, automation and reusable components.
• Analyse functional and technical requirements and contribute to application design and technical solution decisions.
• Troubleshoot defects and improve application performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Prepare and run unit, integration and technical tests, take part in code reviews and follow secure coding, source control and quality standards.
• Support controlled build, deployment, release and CI/CD practices, and help with data migration, transformation and validation.
• Support implementation, UAT, deployment and go-live, maintain technical documentation and give L3 technical support for code, database, API, integration or automation issues.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, infrastructure, cybersecurity and governance teams, and report progress, risks, issues and effort.

Required profile

• Typically 2-4 years of relevant experience in software, web, application, integration, automation or low-code development.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Relevant professional certifications are an advantage.

• Software engineering principles, object-oriented design, testing and debugging.
• Relational databases and SQL.
• Web applications, APIs, integrations, automation or low-code/no-code platforms.
• Source control, CI/CD, deployment and technical documentation.
• Secure coding and application security principles.
• Current environment may include .NET/C#, ASP.NET MVC, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, Git and AI-assisted development tools.
