NPI / R&D Engineer - High-Speed Digital & Optical Communication Test Systems

About the role

A hands-on NPI / R&D engineer is sought to drive the development and commercialization of next-generation test and measurement products for high-speed digital and optical communication systems. The role covers sampling oscilloscopes, Time Domain Reflectometers (TDRs) and Bit Error Ratio Testers (BERTs) for data center, networking, semiconductor and telecommunications applications, from concept evaluation and prototyping through verification, manufacturing readiness and market release.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the research, architecture evaluation, development and performance optimization of sampling oscilloscopes, TDRs and BERTs, working with hardware, software, firmware, optics, systems, manufacturing and marketing teams.
• Analyze high-speed electrical and optical systems, investigating signal integrity, timing recovery, jitter, noise, channel impairments and measurement accuracy.
• Create verification and validation strategies, test plans, qualification procedures and performance characterization methods; run tests, analyze results and write engineering reports.
• Drive root-cause analysis of performance anomalies and support manufacturing transfer and production readiness.
• Develop DSP algorithms for equalization, clock and data recovery, adaptive filtering, channel characterization, jitter analysis, signal quality and link analysis.
• Build MATLAB tools for automation, data acquisition, signal processing, visualization and performance evaluation.
• Help define product specifications, review datasheets, and write user documentation, application notes, test methodologies and user manuals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field.
• Strong foundation in DSP (filtering, spectral analysis, equalization, synchronization, communication signal processing).
• Solid understanding of analog and mixed-signal electronics.
• Open to experienced engineers and exceptional new graduates; prior experience with high-speed test equipment is not required.

Required skills

• Strong MATLAB programming for algorithm development, data analysis, automation and visualization.
• Ability to develop structured engineering documentation, test plans and technical reports.
