Lead Backend Engineer (Python)

About the role

CFI Financial Group is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer with strong Python expertise to drive the development of new trading products and features. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams and senior leadership to shape the technical direction of our platform.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement new features and products.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and coding standards.
• Present implementations to team leads, heads of department, and the CTO.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high quality.
• Participate in code reviews, identify anti‑patterns, and drive refactoring.
• Maintain software quality, security, modifiability, and extensibility.
• Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.

Required profile

• BSc in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of professional Python development experience.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Technical Lead.
• Strong attention to detail and a technical mindset.
• Solid understanding of software quality assurance, SDLC, and SOA.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Kafka, microservices, containerisation, websockets, Kubernetes, and IaC tools (Terraform, Helm).
• Proficiency with version control and CI tools such as Git and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of web security standards and best practices.
