Area Manager – Marine (Africa)

About the role

Chedid Re, part of the Chedid Capital group, is seeking an experienced Area Manager for its Marine department covering the African territory. You will lead brokerage services across multiple lines of business, drive business development, and support the department’s growth and client servicing objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a business plan aligned with departmental and group strategic objectives.
• Create and maintain policies and procedures to meet organisational requirements.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, promote teamwork and ensure high performance standards.
• Identify and manage Facultative business development opportunities, including new business and renewals for Marine, Transit and Cargo lines.
• Monitor renewals and conduct binder audits to ensure compliance.
• Promote Chedid Re services to generate new business and cross‑selling opportunities.
• Provide technical advice to insurers/reinsurers and negotiate deals.
• Manage placement file production, commission approvals and revenue generation.
• Coordinate with Quality Assurance and internal/external stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers and reinsurers.
• Set individual objectives, manage performance and support professional development of team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance or a related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a comparable managerial role.
• Fluency in English and French.
• Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification is preferred.
