Retail Department Manager

About the role

The Retail Department Manager leads one or more retail departments, creating a high‑performing environment that delivers the best customer experience. This role analyses sales data, coordinates with buyers, and develops actionable plans together with the Retail Assistant Commercial Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a strong floor presence, drive sales performance and promote service excellence.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to support business development.
• Develop and execute yearly action plans to meet sales KPIs and strategic goals.
• Oversee inventory control, stock replenishment and POS transactions, including returns and discounts.
• Set individual targets, coach the team, manage schedules and ensure policy compliance.
• Prepare monthly business reports, analyse brand performance and suggest improvement actions.
• Review P&L statements and propose measures to increase profitability.
• Coordinate seasonal targets with buyers, validate brand reports and maintain data integrity.
• Collaborate with visual merchandising, operations and other departments to ensure consistent department image and efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading retail teams and achieving sales targets.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales figures and financial statements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to develop action plans, set targets and monitor performance.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to high service standards.
