Legal Counsel – Borders Business Unit

About the role

SITA is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Borders Business Unit. You will operate as an autonomous lawyer, supporting the unit’s ambitious projects in digital travel, biometrics, AI, privacy, sanctions and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Navigate complex international rules, regulations and risk landscapes.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, partnership agreements, consortia and joint‑venture documents.
• Advise internal teams on public procurement, AI, privacy, sanctions and compliance matters.
• Manage relationships with local external counsel and regulatory bodies.
• Support major strategic deals and industry partnerships.
• Contribute business insight to cross‑functional projects beyond pure legal advice.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with autonomy to manage one or more legal domains (e.g., a business unit, geography, or specific area of law).
• Regular engagement with external parties such as customers, suppliers, regulators and industry players.
• Experience in technology‑focused environments, preferably within travel, aviation or border solutions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with both legal and business teams.
