Legal Intern

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a motivated Legal Intern to support research and documentation on competition and consumer protection frameworks, with a focus on the Oman market study and the assessment of Oman’s 10th National Development Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary legal research on competition and consumer protection topics.
• Support research related to Oman’s building materials sector using relevant legislation and reference sources.
• Assist in the legal assessment of Oman’s 10th National Development Plan and prepare related outputs.
• Draft, edit, and proofread reports, presentations, and background notes with legal content.
• Contribute to the preparation of a regional consumer‑protection webinar and the Arab Competition Forum.
• Gather, organize, and maintain electronic legal reference files for efficient retrieval.
• Provide support to initiatives such as the Arab Business Legislative Framework and the Arab Legislations Portal.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme, in the final year of a bachelor programme, or graduated within the past year.
• Able to commence the internship within one year of graduation.
• Strong interest in legal research, competition law, and consumer protection.
