Country Director Lebanon

About the role

The Country Director will provide strategic leadership for War Child’s operations in Lebanon, guiding a high‑performing team in a complex, conflict‑affected environment. The role is responsible for delivering high‑quality programmes that protect and support children while strengthening fundraising, partnerships, and operational sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and regularly update the Country Strategy and annual plans, ensuring alignment with global objectives and local realities.
• Hold ultimate accountability for programme quality, delivery, learning, compliance with donor and organisational standards, and financial health.
• Lead the Country Management Team in performance management, reporting and adaptive planning based on contextual analysis.
• Drive fundraising initiatives, cultivate donor relationships and secure sustainable funding streams.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local organisations, government bodies and other stakeholders.
• Ensure safety, security, risk management and compliance across all operations.
• Represent War Child externally, advocating for the Country Strategy and programme impact.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multi‑disciplinary teams and complex programmes.
• Strong track record in fundraising, partnership development and donor engagement.
• Deep understanding of child protection, education and psychosocial support frameworks.
• Excellent strategic thinking, decision‑making and risk‑management capabilities.
