Head of Office – Lebanon

About the role

The German Red Cross seeks a senior professional to lead its Lebanon office. Based in Beirut, the Head of Office will steer the partnership with the Lebanese Red Cross and act as the regional representative for the MENA area, ensuring strategic alignment and effective humanitarian response.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the strategic partnership with the Lebanese Red Cross, aligning GRC’s country strategy with LRC priorities.
• Represent GRC at the national level, liaising with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, the German Embassy, and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor the humanitarian and socio‑political context in Lebanon, providing risk assessments and trend analyses to GRC headquarters.
• Coordinate regional support services and programme activities for the MENA region from the Lebanon office.
• Facilitate humanitarian diplomacy and engage in strategic discussions with sister National Societies across the region.
• Oversee office operations, including staff management, budgeting, and reporting.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian or development work, preferably in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to manage partnerships with national societies and government entities.
• Strong understanding of the humanitarian landscape in the Middle East and North Africa.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English; Arabic and German are advantageous.
