Senior Go Developer – COBOL Modernisation (AI Focus)

About the role

Aspire Software is looking for a Senior Go Developer to join its Lebanon team. The role centres on modernising a decades‑old COBOL core by leveraging AI‑enhanced tooling while continuing to develop modern Go services.

Key responsibilities

• Spend dedicated time learning the COBOL core under the guidance of a senior platform engineer.
• Contribute to Go services from day one, handling scoped tasks that build platform context.
• Document findings in real time, using fresh‑eye perspective to surface hidden knowledge.
• Apply AI tools to summarise unfamiliar code, generate questions for mentors, and accelerate documentation.
• After six months, own work across both modern Go services and the legacy COBOL core.
• Improve core engineering processes such as testing, deployment, and definition of done.
• Lead AI‑assisted modernisation initiatives, translating COBOL components into modular, maintainable pieces.

Required profile

• Motivated to learn COBOL from scratch without prior experience.
• Strong modern engineering instincts and a solid grasp of AI tooling.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across the full stack.
• Interest in deep system analysis and long‑term platform evolution.

Required skills

• Go programming language.
