Research Assistant on Transport and Road Safety in the Arab region

About the role

The Research Assistant will support ESCWA’s road‑safety project aimed at halving traffic deaths in the Arab region by 2030. The role focuses on producing evidence‑based tools, capacity‑building activities and stakeholder engagement to improve transport safety.

Key responsibilities

• Research, compile, analyse and summarise data on transport and road‑safety issues across the Arab region.
• Prepare statistical tables, graphs and presentation material for policy‑making deliverables.
• Develop manuals, policy papers and guides for the use of road‑safety tools.
• Assist with project‑management tasks, including monitoring progress and reporting.
• Participate in stakeholder consultations and capacity‑building workshops.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Transport, Road Safety or a related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in transport‑related issues.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (speaking, reading, writing and understanding).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of transport data systems and basic data‑analysis techniques.
