Protection Officer

About the role

The Protection Officer will lead the planning, coordination and implementation of the Women’s Programs Association’s protection programme across Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. The role ensures compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements and humanitarian protection standards while supervising a team of social workers delivering case‑management and community‑based protection activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the annual protection workplan, budgets and activity schedules, ensuring alignment with approved project documents and logframes.
• Provide technical guidance on protection concepts, risk identification, case management, referral pathways and safeguarding to the field team.
• Supervise and coach a team of at least seven Social Workers, conduct regular field visits and quality‑assurance reviews of case files.
• Track protection indicators, analyse trends and support MEAL processes to inform programme adjustments.
• Represent WPA in coordination meetings, maintain referral partnerships and prepare accurate donor and management reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human rights, social science or a related field.
• Minimum two years of senior‑level experience in protection programming or case management within humanitarian or development settings.
• Proven experience supervising social‑work or community‑based staff.
• Strong knowledge of protection standards, methodologies and, preferably, the context of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
• Leadership, planning and organisational competencies with the ability to manage competing priorities.
