Occupational Health and Safety Officer

About the role

Gray Mackenzie Retail Lebanon (GMRL), a supermarket and hypermarket operator active since 1996, is hiring an Occupational Health and Safety Officer. The role manages workplace safety, ensures compliance with safety regulations and prevents accidents, injuries and illnesses. It covers hazard identification, risk assessment, reporting and oversight of safety programmes and training.

Key responsibilities

• Stay up to date on applicable safety regulations and standards, conduct regular inspections to find and fix hazards, investigate accidents and report to the relevant authorities
• Visit sites to check adherence to safety protocols, identify hazards and collect feedback for improvement
• Identify risks in store operations, implement controls such as procedures and training, and provide personal protective equipment
• Coach department supervisors, who act as day-to-day OH&S owners in stores, on safety practices
• Develop emergency plans, run drills and work with local services for a coordinated response
• Collect and analyse OH&S data (incident reports, audits, risk assessments), ensure timely and accurate reporting, generate reports and communicate key safety metrics

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience as an OH&S officer in retail or a similar environment
• Valid driver's license and own car, required for frequent travel across branches

Required skills

• Strong understanding of OH&S practices and standards (ISO 45001, ISO 31000, OSHA)
