About the role
The MEAL Solutions Lead, Sales & Subject Matter Expert bridges sales and product development for monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) solutions. You will own the sales pipeline across NGOs, INGOs, donors, government implementers and research institutions while translating field‑based MEAL practice into client‑focused solutions and clear product requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the full sales cycle for MEAL solutions, from prospecting and qualification to demos, proposals, RFP responses, negotiations and closing.
- Conduct tailored discussions with MEAL managers, coordinators, country directors and donor focal points to align solutions with programme and reporting needs.
- Build and nurture relationships across humanitarian and development networks, donor procurement channels and sector clusters.
- Lead customer onboarding, product training and maintain accurate CRM data, reporting on pipeline, conversion and revenue against quarterly targets.
- Act as the internal MEAL authority for business analysts and developers, shaping requirements for logframes, indicators, monitoring visits, case management and reporting.
- Facilitate requirements workshops, validate user stories and translate operational MEAL needs into product specifications.
- Define and validate indicators, including codes, baselines, targets, calculations, disaggregation and alignment with outputs, outcomes, donors, SDGs and programmes.
- Review wireframes, prototypes and product designs, participate in UAT and beta releases, and flag domain risks before development.
- Develop reusable MEAL assets such as indicator libraries, sector templates, donor‑report templates, logframes, Theory of Change, results frameworks, monitoring plans and data‑quality standards.
- Represent the organization at relevant events and contribute to sector‑focused case studies, webinars and thought‑leadership content.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Statistics, Public Health or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a MEAL role within an NGO, INGO, donor, UN agency, government programme or development consultancy.
- Hands‑on experience with logical frameworks, Theory of Change, results frameworks, indicator reference sheets, monitoring plans and indicator management (targets, baselines, calculations, disaggregation).
- Familiarity with donor planning, measurement and reporting standards such as USAID, EU/ECHO, UN agencies, World Bank, FCDO, GIZ, GAVI and regional or Gulf donors.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of MEAL platforms such as KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare, ActivityInfo and DevResults.
