Local Development and Governance Consultant

About the role

The UNDP Lebanon, through Stars Orbit Consultants and Management Development, is recruiting a Local Development and Governance Consultant for a 12-month national consultancy (no more than 18 working days per month). The consultant works from the UNDP South Area Office in Tyre, with regular field visits to project sites and occasional visits to the UNDP Country Office in Beirut. The role supports the Lebanon Host Community Support Project Phase 2 (LHSP 2.0) and the Local Development for Stabilization (LDP) project, which aim to strengthen municipal capacities and local governance in the face of Lebanon's economic, social and security crisis.

Key responsibilities

• Support the assessment, participatory planning, implementation and monitoring of activities under LHSP and LDP, under the guidance of the Project Specialist and the Area Manager.
• Ensure proper implementation of livelihood projects under LHSP.
• Facilitate local coordination among stakeholders, including municipalities, unions of municipalities, Social Development Centers, Civil Defense units, regional ministry offices and community stakeholders.
• Support the identification and prioritization of community-based interventions based on assessed needs.
