Safeguarding Officer

About the role

World Vision Lebanon is looking for a Safeguarding Officer on a local fixed-term contract. The role supports the implementation and strengthening of the organization's safeguarding framework across programmes, operations and partnerships, contributing to the prevention, reporting and response to safeguarding concerns through awareness raising, capacity building, risk assessments, monitoring, incident management and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement safeguarding standards and frameworks across programmes, operations and partnerships, and compile and analyse safeguarding risk information and trends.
• Conduct and support periodic safeguarding risk assessments, including for emergency responses, and integrate safeguarding into programme implementation and partner activities.
• Ensure timely, high-quality incident reporting, case investigation, follow-up and escalation, and compile and submit safeguarding reports and documentation.
• Carry out spot checks, audits and compliance reviews, monitor partner compliance and provide technical support, mentoring and capacity strengthening to partners.
• Document lessons learned and good practices, and support the management and follow-up of complex or high-risk safeguarding concerns.
• Lead safeguarding capacity strengthening for staff, management, safeguarding focal points and partners, and embed safeguarding in inductions, refresher trainings, partner onboarding and visitor orientations.
• Strengthen community-based safeguarding awareness and feedback mechanisms, promote a speak-up culture, attend capacity-building trainings and organizational events, and report CP incidents and security breaches as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant social science, development or public relations field; master's degree preferred.
• Experience in both relief and development.
• Experience in safeguarding and child protection.
• Ability to oversee and manage budgets and experience in project management.
• High-standard spoken and written English and fluency in Arabic.
