Light Vehicles Driver

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is hiring a Light Vehicles Driver in Zahle, Lebanon. The driver transports people and goods safely and on time, in line with ICRC rules, national traffic laws and internal security rules. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Lebanon.

Key responsibilities

• Drive light vehicles to transport people and/or material while following internal security rules and national traffic laws.
• Monitor road security conditions constantly.
• Store goods in the vehicle according to local, international and ICRC safety standards.
• Check the assigned vehicle's equipment, general functioning and body condition, and keep it fueled and clean.
• Verify that trips have been authorized where necessary.
• Report accidents, defects and missing equipment to management immediately.
• Act as convoy leader when needed, overseeing drivers, security rules and the convoy schedule.

Required profile

• Secondary school diploma.
• Public driving licence (other categories are a plus).
• At least 4 years of professional experience as a driver or in field work for an NGO.
• Experience in vehicle electromechanics is a plus.
• Native Arabic and full professional English.

Required skills

• Advanced vehicle maintenance and familiarity with all-terrain vehicles and vans.
• Proficiency in vehicle mechanics and electromechanics.

What we offer

• Salary of 1,218 to 1,754 USD per month, set according to the ICRC salary scale.
• Transportation allowance of 15 USD per day.
• 13th-month salary paid in December, pro rata.
• Annual leave of 20 paid working days, pro rata.
• Full health insurance covering in-patients and out-patients, with 90% of premiums covered.
• Retirement savings plan (IRSP) worth 11.5% of monthly salary, paid on termination.

Working schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. The contract is fixed term for 1 year, renewable by performance and need, with an estimated start date of January 2027. Applications close on 3 November 2026; selection involves a written test and an interview.
