Consultant to Support the Fifth Arab Forum for Equality

About the role

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) will convene the Fifth Arab Forum for Equality (AFE5) in Muscat, Oman, on 26-27 January 2027, under the theme "Intergenerational Equality: A Path Forward". ESCWA seeks a consultant to provide timely and effective logistical and coordination support for the Forum, helping plan, organize and deliver its activities and engage participants and partners. The expected duration is 2 months and the work takes place at ESCWA premises.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and support the preparation of correspondence and communications, including follow-up with participants, speakers and partners
• Support the development, organization and updating of contact lists and participant databases
• Support and advise on participant registration coordination
• Advise on and support travel arrangements, logistics and visa requirements for speakers and participants
• Liaise with conference services, interpreters and other service providers and operational partners
• Provide substantive coordination, administrative and logistical support throughout the Forum's preparation and organization

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration, Project Management, Social Policy, Social Development, Economic or Financial Policy, or another relevant field; a copy of the degree must be submitted
• 4 years of progressively responsive experience in administrative support, project coordination, event management or a related area; experience supporting conferences, forums or large events is desirable
• Previous experience with the United Nations system or other international organizations is desirable
• Fluency in Arabic and English is required; French is desirable
• Legal right to live and work in the working location; recruitment is on a local basis
