Budget/Accounting Assistant

About the role

The EU Delegation in Beirut is seeking a Budget/Accounting Assistant to support the Finance, Contracts & Audit Section. Working under the Head of Section, you will provide technical and administrative assistance for financial, contractual and procurement activities of EU cooperation programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse, verify and process payment requests and financial guarantees.
• Prepare and issue financial documents such as commitments, de‑commitments, payment and recovery orders.
• Follow up on contracts, payments and execution deadlines, ensuring compliance with EU regulations.
• Maintain bank and legal entity files and guarantee data quality in the relevant IT applications.
• Contribute to financial reports, forecasts and annual statistics.
• Support procurement processes: draft tender and proposal calls, organise evaluation committees, and prepare contract awards.
• Encode financial and contractual data accurately and identify any requests for deviations.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, economics or a related field.
• Experience in public‑sector budgeting, procurement or contract administration is desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate within a small team.
