Arabic Language Instructor – MSA & Lebanese Arabic

About the role

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut seeks a qualified Arabic Language Instructor to deliver Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Lebanese Arabic lessons to adult embassy staff. This part‑time position involves 60‑minute sessions tailored to a range of proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced.

Key responsibilities

• Provide MSA and Lebanese Arabic instruction in small‑group and individual settings.
• Design and deliver lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
• Incorporate authentic materials such as newspapers, audio recordings, and visual media.
• Prepare students for everyday communication and job‑related language use.
• Monitor progress through participation, quizzes, and informal assessments.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and give constructive feedback.
• Coordinate lesson plans and scheduling with the Post Language Officer.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years full‑time or 4 years part‑time experience teaching MSA and Lebanese Arabic.
• Experience teaching Arabic to non‑native adult learners.
• Strong knowledge of Arabic grammar, pronunciation, and all language domains.
• Ability to adapt instruction to different proficiency levels and learning objectives.
• Proven experience preparing lesson plans, handouts, tests, and instructional materials.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to evaluate student progress.
