Application Architect

About the role

We are looking for an Application Architect to lead the design and evolution of our enterprise business application platform. Based in Damascus, the role requires overseeing backend, frontend, mobile, API and workflow components to ensure scalability, performance and maintainability.

Key responsibilities

• Define and govern the application architecture for backend, frontend, mobile, API, workflow and integration layers.
• Guide the design of business modules, workflow engines, approval flows, forms, dashboards and integration services.
• Review technical designs to ensure they meet scalability, performance, security and usability requirements.
• Establish standards for backend customization, frontend components, mobile development and reusable services.
• Support high‑user‑volume scenarios, field operations, document and image handling, and complex workflow processing.
• Implement containerized deployment using OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker or similar platforms.
• Coordinate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, environment management, release strategies and rollback procedures.
• Review API integrations with ERP, IAM, network, planning/design and reporting systems.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and define optimization approaches.
• Assist with production readiness, monitoring, logging and operational support models.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in application architecture, solution architecture or senior software engineering.
• Proven track record designing enterprise‑grade business applications for large user bases.
• Strong backend architecture experience, preferably with Python‑based platforms or ERP frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.js.
• Experience designing mobile architectures using Flutter, React Native or native iOS/Android.
• Extensive experience creating REST APIs and integration services.
• Solid background with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Experience with container orchestration tools like OpenShift, Kubernetes and Docker.
• Deep understanding of application performance, scalability, maintainability and production support.
• Practical experience with the Odoo framework or similar ERP systems.
