Senior Legal Compliance Officer

About the role

The Senior Legal Compliance Officer will design, implement and continuously improve the Group’s compliance framework across all entities, ensuring adherence to local, regional and international laws. Reporting to senior management, the role works closely with the Legal and Internal Audit departments to manage compliance, governance and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve comprehensive compliance programs aligned with CMA CGM’s strategic objectives and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure the Group operates in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and internal policies across jurisdictions, including maritime law.
• Conduct regular legal and compliance risk assessments, propose mitigation strategies and monitor regulatory developments.
• Track regulatory changes, adapt policies and procedures, and ensure timely implementation of necessary changes.
• Provide expert guidance to senior management and business units on compliance, governance and regulatory matters, and coordinate with Legal and Internal Audit on risk assessments and remediation actions.
• Maintain proper documentation, reporting and record‑keeping of compliance activities and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law; Master’s degree or professional legal qualification preferred; certifications such as CCEP or CAMS a plus.
• Minimum 7‑10 years of experience in legal compliance, with demonstrable expertise in maritime law and/or the shipping and logistics industry.
• In‑depth knowledge of international trade law, maritime regulatory frameworks, anti‑bribery and corruption statutes (FCPA/UK Bribery Act), data protection (GDPR) and environmental/sustainability regulations relevant to the sector.
