Pastry Chef – Luxury Hotel

About the role

The Pastry Chef will lead the pastry and bakery operations at Kempinski’s Beirut hotel, ensuring a wide range of cakes, pastries, desserts and breads meet the highest quality and guest expectations. The role involves planning, organizing, controlling production, and supervising a team of pastry staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Pastry Chef in supervising all pastry and bakery staff.
• Develop and maintain up‑to‑date operation manuals, recipes and accurate costing for all pastry items.
• Inspect daily deliveries and storage areas to ensure quality and compliance with health‑safety standards.
• Monitor food preparation, portion control, inventory levels and daily costs.
• Coordinate with the Chief Steward to maintain cleanliness of the pastry kitchen and equipment.
• Plan weekly duty rosters and manage purchasing and supply requisitions.
• Conduct training needs analysis, coach staff and participate in performance appraisals.
• Support budgeting and cost control for the pastry department.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of kitchen experience, including at least 1 year in a pastry role, preferably in a 5‑star hotel.
• Hospitality management education or equivalent, with HACCP certification.
• Excellent oral and written skills in Arabic (local language) and English.
• Lebanese nationality preferred, with international experience considered an asset.

Required skills

• Ability to operate standard computer and office equipment.
