Legal Consultant – Protection Services

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Legal Consultant to support protection activities in the Bekaa region. Working under the Protection Manager, you will help reduce protection risks and ensure legal protection for vulnerable individuals, especially those referred through Child Protection, Gender‑Based Violence, and case‑management programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and disseminate updates on Lebanese legal frameworks, including new laws, decrees, regulations, and judicial decisions.
• Maintain effective communication and coordination with IRC implementing partners in targeted locations.
• Conduct regular field visits to provide in‑person legal services at protection centres and other designated sites.
• Provide legal counseling, assistance, and representation to individuals at risk, prioritising cases based on vulnerability and protection risk.
• Ensure all legal interventions follow the Do No Harm principle, a survivor‑centred approach, and confidentiality standards.
• Collaborate closely with Protection Case Management teams to align legal support with case plans.
• Prepare timely quantitative and qualitative activity reports and flag operational challenges to the Protection Manager.

Required profile

• Law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in legal aid or protection work, preferably in humanitarian contexts.
• Strong knowledge of Lebanese legal system and its impact on protection programmes.
• Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and client safety.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with partners and multidisciplinary teams.
