Java Backend Developer - Fintech

About the role

Orbt.com is looking for a Java Backend Developer to join its engineering team and build the backend platforms behind its gift card, payout and financial technology products. The role covers designing, developing, maintaining and enhancing reliable, secure and scalable Java-based solutions, including high-performance backend services, robust APIs and integrations, and cloud-based infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring high code quality and adherence to engineering best practices.
• Contribute to architectural decisions such as microservices design, API contracts and system integrations.
• Build solutions for gift card processing, payout operations and financial transaction workflows.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps and other engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Identify bottlenecks and performance issues and implement scalable, secure and resilient services for high-volume transactions.
• Work with AWS to deploy, operate and improve applications and infrastructure.
• Support production stability through incident resolution, root cause analysis and monitoring.
• Follow secure development practices to protect customer and financial data.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional experience in backend development using Java.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Preferred: experience with messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka), Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and performance optimization, and fintech domain knowledge.

Required skills

• Strong Java and Spring Boot / Spring Framework knowledge.
• RESTful APIs and integrations; microservices and distributed systems.
• Relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• AWS cloud services and Git.
• Preferred: AWS ECS, EC2, RDS, API Gateway, S3, Cognito, Lambda, CloudWatch, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring WebFlux, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
