Head of General Merchandise

About the role

The Unit Head – General Merchandise will lead the commercial team responsible for the General Merchandise category across Spinneys stores in Lebanon. This senior position is accountable for shaping strategy, driving operational effectiveness, and delivering sales and profitability targets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in identifying growth opportunities, developing strategies, and implementing programs to improve operational effectiveness, including process improvements and technology enhancements.
• Coordinate with the Organization Development department to set and control SOPs and adapt department structure to align with strategic goals.
• Conduct market research to monitor trends, competitor behavior, and customer needs, and translate findings into actionable plans.
• Implement sales and profitability strategies, monitor product performance, and take corrective actions to meet margin targets.
• Negotiate, approve, and manage contracts with suppliers, track orders, and oversee payments, claims, and rebate deductions.
