Deputy Principal & Chief Vocational Training Instructor

About the role

The Deputy Principal and Chief Vocational Training Instructor will support the Principal of the training centre in managing both administrative and technical functions. This senior position oversees a team of instructors and support staff, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality vocational programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise senior, technical, academic and trade instructors to meet programme objectives.
• Prepare and implement weekly timetables and biennial work plans.
• Conduct classroom and workshop visits, seminars and action‑research to develop instructional competency.
• Plan and deliver in‑service training based on staff needs.
• Maintain staffing tables, order training supplies and ensure equipment upkeep.
• Monitor trainee progress, review reports and marks, and apply centre regulations.
• Provide counselling and disciplinary guidance for students.
• Oversee on‑the‑job training for VTC trainees and liaise with government and private training institutions.
• Act on behalf of the Principal during absences and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in a subject taught at the centre, education or psychology.
• Certificate or diploma of at least one‑year duration in education, educational psychology or instructor training.
• Minimum three years of administrative or supervisory experience in a vocational education institution.
• Demonstrated competence in communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making.
