Community Mobilizer - Protection, Bekaa

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is recruiting Community Mobilizers to carry out protection-related project activities in the Central Bekaa area of Lebanon. The mobilizers build trust with the community, act as the main protection focal point in their area and refer protection risks such as child protection, gender-based violence and general protection concerns to DRC staff for follow-up. The position is a volunteer role, not a staff position.

Key responsibilities

• Attend capacity-building training as requested by DRC
• Share protection trends and refer identified cases
• Fill surveys and assessments regularly
• Support focus group discussions and deliver Child Protection and Psychosocial Support (CB-PSS) activities to affected children and their caregivers
• Build and maintain good relationships with community members and stakeholders
• Ensure regular reporting of protection activities
• Hold awareness sessions and disseminate service mapping and referral pathways at community level

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. social sciences, statistics, data science) preferred
• At least 1 year of experience; previous experience with a humanitarian organization preferred
• Good knowledge of the area and its context
• Adherence to the DRC code of conduct and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse

Required skills

• Good communication and facilitation and sensitization skills
• Understanding of protection and child protection principles
• Ability to work under pressure and good team spirit
• Willingness to understand psychological first aid and support when needed

What we offer

• Contract length of 3 months, until February 2027, at volunteer band/level
• Duty station: Central Bekaa, start date 1 December 2026
• A lump sum of up to 200 USD to cover communication and transport when supporting the DRC team on the field
