Community Mobilizers (2 Positions)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is recruiting two Community Mobilizers in South-Saida/Tyre, Lebanon. Community Mobilizers support community engagement, outreach and participation across all DRC programme sectors, building trust with communities through regular field visits, community networks and accurate information about DRC services. They identify community needs, priorities and protection concerns, share this with DRC staff and safely refer people needing assistance. The position is a volunteer role, not a staff position, with a 3-month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Uphold humanitarian principles and the DRC Code of Conduct.
• Build relationships with community members and stakeholders and conduct regular field visits.
• Safely refer individuals needing assistance to DRC staff and maintain a network of community contacts.
• Report community concerns, emerging needs and service gaps to the Team Leader and share community priorities to improve programmes.
• Run awareness sessions, share service mapping and referral pathways, and support surveys, assessments and focus group discussions.
• Attend capacity-building training and report activities regularly; report weekly to the General Team Leader.

Required profile

• Good knowledge of the area, communities and overall context.
• Basic understanding of humanitarian principles, inclusion, confidentiality and safe referrals.
• Ability to work under pressure and with different programme teams.
• Willingness to learn and support community activities across all DRC sectors.

Required skills

• Good communication and community engagement skills.
• Good facilitation and awareness-raising skills.
• Adherence to the DRC Code of Conduct and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.

What we offer

• Volunteer position, 3 months, with a lump sum of up to 200 USD to cover communication and transportation in the field.
• Duty station: South-Saida/Tyre; start date ASAP.
