Awards Manager

About the role

The Awards Manager provides strategic leadership for the management of development and humanitarian programme awards, sub‑awards and contracts. Reporting to the Director of Programme Operations, the role sits on the Extended Senior Management Team and contributes to strategic decision‑making, risk management and donor engagement to maximise impact and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee compliance with donor rules and regulations, ensuring timely and high‑quality reporting.
• Lead the Grants Management Process, aligning award activities with organisational priorities and KPIs.
• Monitor and analyse portfolio performance, identify trends and risks, and advise senior management on corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Programme, MEAL, Partnerships, Finance, Supply Chain and donor‑facing teams to ensure seamless award lifecycle management.
• Develop and strengthen internal award management systems, tools and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Analyse financial variances and work with relevant teams to resolve issues.
• Provide leadership during major humanitarian emergencies, ensuring rapid award support for crisis response.

Required profile

• Proven experience in award, grant or contract management within the humanitarian or development sector.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, risk mitigation and financial stewardship.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functional teams and senior leadership.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Level 3 child safeguarding clearance.
