Accountant – Finance Department (Beirut)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a dedicated Accountant to join its Lebanon Finance Department in Beirut. Working under the Finance Manager, you will ensure accurate day‑to‑day financial processing in line with IRC policies, supporting the organization’s humanitarian mission.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing finance policies and procedures.
• Process daily data entry, bank and cash transactions, and ensure correct budget coding using the Integra accounting system.
• Prepare and execute payments (checks, bank letters, transfers) with complete supporting documentation.
• Review and process petty‑cash expenses, volunteer and beneficiary advances, and ensure compliance with IRC policies.
• Maintain an organized filing system for all financial and contractual documents.
• Conduct site visits to process program‑related payments and cash disbursements.
• Handle supplier checks, verify recipients, and follow up on receipts.
• Perform bi‑weekly and month‑end cash counts and support audits and donor visits.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end reconciliations as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an Advanced Diploma in Accounting.
• Minimum two years of relevant finance or administration experience.
• Experience in a complex environment; NGO experience is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of accounting software, specifically the Integra system.
