University Lawyer – Legal Services & Compliance

About the role

The Office of the Chief of Staff & General Counsel seeks a Lawyer to provide comprehensive legal services to the University, its New York Campus, affiliated medical centers, and related entities. Based on the Beirut campus, the role involves regular commuting to the Byblos campus and LAU affiliates.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and deliver analysis on regulatory matters affecting the University and its affiliates.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks through preventive guidance and risk‑management strategies.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and revise contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal documents to ensure compliance and protect institutional interests.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal advice to university departments, schools, the New York Campus, and medical centers on non‑GC matters.
• Support dispute resolution, claims, and litigation, including coordination with external counsel and case preparation.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on operational impacts.
• Maintain legal records in line with institutional and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• LL.B. degree and a valid license to practice law in good standing.
• Experience advising academic, administrative, and healthcare entities on legal and regulatory issues.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
