Social Workers for Sentence Reduction Commission

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking three national social workers to support Lebanon's Commission of Reduction of Sentences. This short‑term consultancy will be home‑based, with periodic attendance at the Commission’s headquarters and visits to prisons to assess inmates.

Key responsibilities

• Attend scheduled meetings of the Commission of Reduction of Sentences.
• Conduct on‑site visits to prisons as required to evaluate incarcerated individuals.
• Provide social work input and recommendations to the Commission regarding sentence reduction cases.
• Prepare concise reports summarising assessments and recommendations.

Required profile

• Lebanese national with a background in social work.
• Experience working with prison populations or similar vulnerable groups.
• Familiarity with Lebanese Law No. 463/2002 governing sentence reduction.
• Ability to work independently from home while travelling for meetings and prison visits.
