Senior External Auditor

About the role

Grant Thornton Lebanon is looking for a Senior External Auditor to join its audit practice. The role covers the day-to-day execution of audit engagements for various clients, acting as the main point of contact after the first kick-off and liaising between clients and upper management.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the day-to-day activities of audit engagements for various clients
• Act as the primary contact with the client after the first kick-off meeting and communicate weekly with the manager on progress
• Work with the manager on the audit strategy during planning and monitor the engagement budget
• Prepare financial statements of the fieldwork
• Identify and communicate accounting and auditing matters to managers and partners, and technical matters to clients and upper management
• Identify performance improvement opportunities and coach and train junior staff
• Meet periodically with the team and managers on emerging issues, and act as a peer advisor to new team members
• Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of current and/or recent audit experience, preferably in a Big 4 firm
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Economics; Master's degree in Audit is preferable
• CPA/ACCA/LCPA or IFRS certification is a plus, or aim to pursue professional certification
• Bilingual candidates preferred

Required skills

• Applied working knowledge of IFRS
• Good knowledge of accounting practices and processes
• Familiarity with the firm's audit methodology and software
• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and research abilities
• Team management skills and ability to handle conflict
