Legal Consultant – Protection (Bekaa)

About the role

The Legal Consultant will work under the supervision of the Protection Manager to reduce protection risks and promote legal protection for individuals in the Bekaa region. The role focuses on delivering legal awareness, counseling, assistance and representation, especially for cases referred through Child Protection, Gender‑Based Violence and Protection Case Management programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and share updates on Lebanese legal frameworks, including new laws, decrees and judicial decisions that affect programme implementation.
• Establish and maintain coordination with IRC implementing partners and conduct regular field visits to provide in‑person legal services at protection centres.
• Ensure timely, accurate quantitative and qualitative reporting of activities and communicate operational challenges to the Protection Manager.
• Provide legal assistance and representation to individuals at risk, adhering to the Do No Harm principle and a survivor‑centred approach.
• Collaborate closely with Protection Case Management teams to align legal interventions with clients’ protection needs and case plans.
• Prioritise cases based on vulnerability, urgency and protection risk, and offer technical legal advice to staff and partners.

Required profile

• Law degree with solid knowledge of the Lebanese legal system.
• Experience providing legal services in humanitarian or protection contexts.
• Ability to work with vulnerable populations while maintaining confidentiality and safety.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
