Case Manager – Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

About the role

National Post is recruiting a Case Manager in Beirut, Lebanon, to support mental health and psychosocial support (PSS) services. The position is subject to confirmation of donor funding, with an anticipated start date of November/December 2026. It works closely with PHCC staff, community health volunteers (CHVs) and psychologists.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with psychologists and PHCC staff on mental health integration packages to improve identification, basic management and referral of mental health cases.
• Support nurses in PHQ-9 screening and update results after referrals; assess health, mental health, protection and social needs, build a simple care plan and refer to internal or external services.
• Provide non-specialized PSS to referred individuals (IDPs, SGBV survivors, PWDs, PLWs, NCD patients and others), referring severe cases to psychologists or psychiatrists with consent.
• Deliver individual, family and group PSS and psychoeducation using RI or WHO-aligned approaches such as PM+, focusing on resilience, coping skills and family support.
• Use approved screening tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, ITQ) and disability/vulnerability tools (Washington Group questions) during social assessments.
• Prioritize P1 and P2 patients per NMHP criteria, track early warning signs, maintain case files and support recovery, crisis management and relapse prevention.
• Run awareness and PSS sessions on common mental health concerns, and strengthen referral pathways for SGBV, child protection, disability, health, nutrition and other protection issues.
• Conduct outreach with psychologists, CHVs and PHC satellite units, including IDPs in shelters and rented spaces, and build referral networks with health, protection, nutrition and disability actors.
• Coach CHVs and community teams on PSS, safe identification, referral pathways, confidentiality and reporting channels; carry out home visits when safe.
• Report weekly progress, challenges and referrals to the Mental Health Supervisor, take part in MH Team meetings, and keep hard-copy case records and enter data into the mental health database and KOBO tools.
