Virtualization and Systems Administrator (6‑month Consultant)

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) seeks a Virtualization and Systems Administrator on a 6‑month consultancy basis. The role focuses on optimizing a Proxmox virtualization cluster, expanding storage, and ensuring high‑availability and reliable operation of critical on‑premises applications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a full health check, resource tuning and HA configuration for production Proxmox nodes.
• Design and implement a storage expansion and virtual‑machine provisioning framework, including LUN integration and resource allocation.
• Provide operational support for hosted applications, creating resolution logs and step‑by‑step runbooks to minimise downtime.
• Assess legacy systems and produce a modernization blueprint with technical solution designs and architecture road‑maps.
• Implement a backup, recovery and cluster‑monitoring stack with automated VM snapshot lifecycles and performance dashboards.
• Deliver comprehensive documentation, topology diagrams and conduct a knowledge‑transfer workshop for the ESCWA team.

Required profile

• 6‑month contract availability.
• Proven experience managing virtualization infrastructure, preferably Proxmox.
• Strong understanding of high‑availability concepts and storage provisioning.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and produce clear technical documentation.
