About the role
York Press is building a new generation of e‑learning platforms for schools, teachers, students and parents across the MENA region. As a UI/UX Designer you will shape the experience of these products from the earliest design phases through to implementation, working closely with product, engineering and content teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the full design cycle – research, definition, ideation, high‑fidelity UI and interactive prototypes.
- Conduct competitive analysis of leading ed‑tech solutions and create user personas for teachers, students, parents and administrators.
- Map user journeys, define “how‑might‑we” problems and produce information architecture, sketches, wireframes and prototypes for review.
- Build and maintain a design system and component library that can be directly implemented by engineers.
- Design age‑appropriate interfaces for multiple learner groups, supporting both English and Arabic (including right‑to‑left layouts).
- Integrate accessibility from the start, targeting WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.
- Participate in weekly design reviews to align direction before development.
Required profile
- 3 + years of UI/UX design experience delivering real web applications.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end work: research, wireframes and polished UI.
- Expert command of Figma, including components, variants, auto‑layout and prototyping.
- Experience designing complex, data‑heavy applications such as dashboards or SaaS tools.
- Solid understanding of accessibility standards and responsive, mobile‑first design.
- Proven ability to create and contribute to a design system.
- Clear communicator able to present and defend design decisions.
