Senior Learning & Development Specialist

About the role

Spinneys is seeking a Senior Learning & Development Specialist to lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of training programs across its retail, culinary, and distribution business lines. The role ensures that learning initiatives are aligned with business needs, drive measurable performance improvements, and support employee growth.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct training needs assessments in collaboration with department heads and HR partners to identify skill gaps and development opportunities.
• Design and develop tailored curricula, content, and materials for technical, operational, and soft‑skill training.
• Plan, schedule, and administer the annual training calendar, managing logistics such as venue booking, material preparation, attendance tracking, and documentation.
• Maintain training records and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., food safety, hygiene certifications).
• Develop and manage the L&D budget, track expenditures, and report variances.
• Implement evaluation frameworks (e.g., Kirkpatrick model) to assess training effectiveness and calculate ROI, presenting insights to senior leadership.
• Research industry trends and best practices, and drive e‑learning initiatives and digital learning solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in learning and development within a retail or similar fast‑moving environment.
• Strong analytical skills to conduct needs assessments and evaluate training impact.
• Excellent project management abilities to coordinate multiple training programs simultaneously.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
