Operations Development Manager

About the role

The Operations Development Manager will support the performance and technical development of large‑scale power generation assets across Africa. Working in a hybrid setting, the role combines plant‑level operational oversight with strategic input on new thermal and renewable projects.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse key plant KPIs such as availability, efficiency, downtime, outages and reliability.
• Coordinate with O&M contractors to ensure contractual performance obligations are met.
• Review operational reports, incident logs and technical performance data.
• Support maintenance planning, outage scheduling and spare‑parts strategy.
• Conduct site visits, audits and inspections to assess plant condition.
• Manage corrective actions and improvement plans arising from operational reviews.
• Provide technical input for bids, contractor evaluations and procurement activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
• Support technical due diligence and documentation review for new power projects.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, OEMs and contractors throughout project phases.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 8–12 years of experience in power generation, plant operations or performance engineering.
• Strong background in thermal power plant operations and exposure to renewable technologies (gas, solar, wind, BESS) is desirable.
• Experience working with IPPs, EPC contractors, OEMs or utilities.
• Proven ability to work independently in a hybrid environment with international travel.
