Lead AI Engineer

About the role

You will own and evolve the AI and adaptive‑learning layer of our e‑learning platform, shaping how teaching, learning, content creation and analytics are powered by intelligent technology. This is a hands‑on, end‑to‑end position where you will design, build, and operationalise AI solutions while making them transparent and valuable for non‑technical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and deliver AI‑driven features on the product roadmap, selecting the optimal technical approach for each problem.
• Build AI components from prototype to production using large language models, retrieval systems, machine‑learning models and classical rule‑based techniques.
• Own the adaptive‑learning engine, including personalised learning paths, mastery tracking, difficulty adjustment and targeted remediation.
• Define metadata and learning‑data foundations together with content and product teams.
• Instrument the platform to capture learning signals from day one and ensure data‑driven personalisation.
• Evaluate self‑hosted and API‑based models, balancing quality, cost and privacy.
• Implement responsible‑AI safeguards, data‑privacy measures and compliance for minors.
• Establish metrics to prove impact on learning outcomes and report results to leadership.
• Write clean, production‑grade Python code and expose AI services via well‑designed APIs.
• Mentor junior AI engineers and document all work to embed knowledge in the team.

Required profile

• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to explain technical decisions to non‑technical audiences.
• Experience delivering AI features in production environments.
• Comfort working across multilingual content (Arabic and English) and handling student data responsibly.
• Proactive attitude toward measuring impact and iterating on solutions.
