Data Engineer – Modern Data Platform

About the role

As a Data Engineer at OLX Lebanon you will own and evolve a modern data platform that powers the company’s marketplace insights. You will work across the full data lifecycle, from ingesting operational and third‑party sources to delivering reliable, timely data for analytics and business intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and continuously improve the production data platform, including ingestion, transformation, and serving workflows.
• Design, build, and maintain batch and incremental pipelines from databases, APIs, cloud storage, and external systems.
• Develop scalable warehouse models across raw, staging, intermediate, dimensional, and reporting layers.
• Write, optimise, and review SQL and Python code for data ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, and automation.
• Implement transformation‑as‑code workflows using dbt or comparable frameworks.
• Apply robust production patterns such as idempotent processing, retries, schema evolution, scheduling, monitoring, alerting, and failure recovery.
• Ensure data quality through automated tests, source‑to‑target reconciliation, freshness checks, and operational controls.
• Manage cloud data‑warehouse workloads, focusing on performance, access, reliability, and cost optimisation.
• Support Power BI by providing well‑modelled, documented datasets and assisting with report troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a data engineer working independently in a production environment.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to take end‑to‑end responsibility for data pipelines.
• Comfort collaborating with cross‑functional teams such as product, engineering, marketing, finance, and growth.
