Computer Lab Assistant

About the role

Beirut Arab University is looking for a detail‑oriented Lab Assistant to support the daily operations of its Computer Laboratory at the Tripoli Campus. The role involves assisting students and faculty, maintaining equipment and software, and providing technical support during lab sessions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students and faculty with computers, software applications, and laboratory equipment.
• Provide technical assistance and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
• Ensure all computers, peripherals, and equipment are functional and ready for use.
• Install, configure, update, and maintain software applications and operating systems in coordination with the IT Department.
• Monitor proper use of laboratory facilities and enforce university policies.
• Perform routine checks and basic preventive maintenance of computers and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure laboratory environment.
• Report technical issues requiring specialized support to the IT Department and follow up on resolutions.
• Assist with the Faculty of Engineering’s website updates and content publishing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Previous experience in a computer laboratory, IT support or technical support is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) to communicate effectively with students and staff.

Required skills

• Knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems (Windows).
• Software installation and basic troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and common educational/technical software.
• Basic understanding of networking, printers and peripherals.
