Strategic Communications & Institutional Positioning Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking an experienced consultant to lead its strategic communications and institutional positioning agenda. The role will support ESCWA’s new Executive Secretary in shaping a forward‑looking narrative that aligns with UN80, Arab Vision 2045, and the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Draft a Strategic Landscape and Forward Positioning report, identifying opportunities linked to UN80, UN 2.0, Arab Vision 2045, and the SDG Summit 2027.
• Prepare an Institutional Positioning Framework (2026‑2030) that defines ESCWA’s distinctive voice, signature themes, and value proposition using modern branding methods.
• Develop Editorial Line materials for the Executive Secretary, outlining voice, key messages, and recurring framings.
• Design the Road Flagship roadmap, detailing strategic communication priorities, narrative arc, and milestones for the flagship convening.
• Create the AI Flagship and Communications Blueprint, including a regional AI position, multilingual production plan, and a measurement layer for reputation and narrative reach, with one pilot output.
• Develop a Communication Design System that works across Arabic, English, and French, meets accessibility standards, and complies with UN visual identity guidelines.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in strategic communications, institutional positioning, and brand development within multilateral or international contexts.
• Strong understanding of UN frameworks, regional development agendas, and AI‑related communication trends.
• Experience delivering high‑impact reports, frameworks, and design systems for senior leadership.
