Senior Mediation Advisor (National Consultant, Home‑Based)

About the role

UN Women is seeking a Senior Mediation Advisor to provide strategic and technical expertise for a Track 1.5 dialogue process in Lebanon. The consultant will work remotely, supporting the design, facilitation and documentation of high‑level, gender‑responsive dialogue initiatives that advance the Women, Peace and Security agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the UN Women Representative on the design, positioning and implementation of the Track 1.5 dialogue, ensuring alignment with WPS priorities and the Lebanese political context.
• Develop the dialogue architecture, define strategic objectives, sequence sessions, and propose facilitation approaches that build confidence and consensus.
• Conduct political and stakeholder analyses to identify risks, opportunities and entry points for adaptive programming.
• Design, facilitate and moderate high‑level dialogue sessions and retreats using conflict‑sensitive, gender‑responsive mediation methods.
• Produce technical and analytical outputs such as strategies, concept notes, facilitation plans, briefing notes, background papers, analytical briefs, talking points, meeting summaries, outcome documents and final reports.
• Draft and review substantive documents to ensure quality, coherence and alignment with international mediation best practices.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mediation, conflict resolution and inclusive dialogue, preferably within the Women, Peace and Security framework.
• Deep understanding of Lebanon’s political environment and stakeholder landscape.
• Proven ability to work independently, deliver high‑quality analytical products and provide strategic advice to senior officials.
• Strong written communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
