Senior Accountant – Baghdad, Iraq

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its Accounting & Finance team in Baghdad. The role focuses on accurate transaction booking, compliance with local regulations and international reporting standards, and the preparation of various financial reports.

Key responsibilities

• Book general accounting transactions (prepaid, accruals, provisions) in line with policies and legal requirements.
• Perform bank reconciliations, manage transfers, checks and cash payments.
• Prepare and file NSSF and tax declarations, and handle related payments.
• Manage fixed‑asset transactions, including acquisition, disposal and depreciation.
• Control the sales/invoicing cycle, prepare purchase orders and sales invoices.
• Generate receivables and payables reports and support month‑end closing.
• Reconcile inter‑company accounts on request.
• Assist the Chief Accountant with monthly financial reporting.
